During the students' freshman year, they are exposed to 17 different technical areas. After the exposure phase, students prioritize their fields of interest. The freshmen then spend one week in eight of the technical programs they have chosen. The schedule is constructed on a bi-weekly basis in which it alternates between their technical program and academic program. Towards the end of the second term, freshmen decide upon their final shop for the next three-and-a-half years.
